Film Producer, Gita Pullapilly, has produced seven films in the U.S., Jordan and India--The Human Toll, India: A New Life (a PBS-Frontline World production), OUCH!, BLUR, To Serve and Protect, The Elephant Bath, Diary of a Refugee, and The Women of Barda.

In 2005, Gita traveled to Jordan where she was a Fulbright Senior Scholar. There, she made a documentary film on Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan. Also in 2005, the University of Notre Dame Asian American Alumni Association presented her with an exemplar award for her work within her community and at the university. In addition, she won two Associated Press awards for her feature stories.

Gita began her career as a television reporter. Since then, she has traveled the world as a filmmaker and journalist. In 2000, Gita began her broadcasting career in India working as a freelance reporter. She then worked for the CBS owned and operated station in Green Bay, Wisconsin as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor. In 2003, she jumped markets to work for the ABC-affiliate in Grand Rapids, MI.

Gita established herself in the journalism field when she broke a story on a Pakistani child seeking asylum. Subsequently, the INS changed some of its policies towards asylum seekers with medical issues. Gita won a scholarship from Northwestern University for her contributions on this story. In 2001, she did a follow-up story after 9-11 on two Pakistani children seeking asylum under the new laws. That story aired on the CBS network.

In the past six years, Gita has been the mistress of ceremonies, guest speaker and host for a number of events including teen summits on HIV and AIDS and race and diversity programs. She has participated in debates and roundtables on the role of journalists, the media's coverage on racial issues, and the importance of diversity in the workforce. Gita continues to hold media training sessions and seminars around the country.

Gita was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.B.A. in Finance and holds a master's degree from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.

Gita is currently based in the Boston office.
